PELICAN PIRATE RADIO

Two wheels, one frequency

Manifesto

01Everything is live, not edited

All music is played live, to keep the radio feel. Mistakes are part of life, and part of the sound of music.

02Open genre music

Music is music, Jeff Mills to Spice Girls, and ideally at the same time. Music is elitist, and we need to break that. Technology and mixing generally constrains you to songs without lyrics and similar (within key). This is radio, clashing genres, keep the melting pot.

03Music in unexpected places

Using the mobility of bicycles and sustainable transport, bring music to unexpected places, and at unexpected times. Ultimately music is best spontaneous — bring spontaneous joy.

ultimately certain types of music, are frequently confied to clubs, which i want less and less of as i get older, try and break that slightly, less nail polish, more mud.

04No requests, but playlists are allowed, as are guest shows

In this short attention span culture, people just want to hear their one song. If you want your sound, bring your whole sound, not just a bit. Instructions will be provided.

05Build a mobile bike soundsystem capable of a party for 120

So no matter how old I am, I can throw a party anywhere, whenever I want :D

the playground is mafra to setubal for distance the soundsystem should be able to go

06Avoid pioneer and expensive DJ toys

Music should not be gatekept behind multi-thousands of pounds worth of investment. It is used as gatekeeping. Also stems: the music and the most emotive part of music is lyrics — stems enable us to keep them more. I want people to be able to recreate the setup for less than five hundred, and will be giving instructions for that. The more professional setup is limited to 1500.
